olympic champion profile( violet warlord)

 Hey readers! today for Mrs Jones's reading group Tom Fletcher we got to do another Olympic champion profile. this one was about Violet Warlord, she was the first female New Zealand player and the youngest female player in the Olympics in the 1920 Olympic games. we also got to read a text about her before we copied the Olympic champion profile and started it then post it onto our blogs.

 

Match the sport to the venue

this week for Mrs Jones's reading group we have been learning about the Olympics, we have been learning about people in the Olympics, sports, and about how it started in Greece. today for Tom Fletcher we got to copy a google drawing for matching the right sport to the right venue, I was confused on the fencing I wasn't sure which one to do but I guessed that it was a gym sport it wasn't like most things that I have usually gotten to do but it was fun for a change. have you done anything similar to what I did?

Space DLO

Hey readers! for the past 3 weeks for inquiry we have been learning, about space and about its stars and planets, each time we would learn and watch a video about each planet. after we watched the video for each planet we would do a work sheet on paper about the planet, that we just learned about and what we know.

nearing the end of inquiry, we started to make a DLO about the planets. everyone had to make one each for their report. here is mine

Anzac cinquain poem

 For the past 3 weeks Mrs Jones's writing group have been doing poems on war and Anzac's this week we have been doing a cinquain poem we also did a Haiku poem and a diamante poem, we needed to use verbs nouns and adjectives for our poems.

The Bulford kiwi

 Today for Mrs Jones's reading group Tom Fletcher had to make a blog about the Bulford kiwi in England.

the Bulford kiwi is a little known story from the first world war when the new Zealand troops were waiting months in sling camp in southern England waiting for a ship to come and take them back to their home, to keep them busy they carved a kiwi into the hill of the camp to keep them occupied while they, where waiting. for a ship to take them home back from the war.                                                                                   The Bulford kiwi is a large kiwi carved in the, chalk on Beacon hill above the military town of Bulford. part of the Bulford camp was established in June 1916 for the New Zealand expeditionary Force (NZEF).

.The kiwi's body is 1.5 acres (6,100 m2).                                                                                                           .From the kiwi's feet to the top of its beak is 420 feet (130 meters).                                                                   .The beak is 150 feet (46 meters long).                                                                                                              .The letters "N.Z" are 65 feet (20 meters high).

when world war 1 ended with the armistice on November 11, 1918 what happened to the thousands of New Zealand soldiers- around 40,000 stationed in Europe and Britain. who had left their homeland to fight and now where still in Europe.

The invisible man

 Today in Mrs Jones's writing group we had to blog our writing slide we did today, our word of the day was invisible it was something different to do blog our warm up slide. instead of only doing highlight the sentence with the word of the day and share with a buddy we could also blog our story if we wanted, to.

Anzac Haiku poem

 Today for Mrs Jones's writing group we all had to do haiku poems, for 3 weeks we will be doing writing and reading on world war 1 and Anzac day.
